Getting your player ready...

The Super Bowl functions as a kind of comedown from the holiday season. Those weeks of parties and drinks and rich food are lots of fun, and the end of the season is satisfying — at least until the reality of normal, non-holiday life sets in.

That’s just about when Super Bowl Sunday rolls around to save the day. It’s a reminder of happier times, when days off were plentiful and there was no New Year’s diet to worry about. Crack a beer, have a seat and munch on snacks while large men smash one another for the nation’s amusement.

And just like during the holidays, clubs and bars are rolling out the red carpet for the day. If your Super Bowl routine needs a shakeup — how many fistfuls of Chex Mix can you watch Uncle Carl eat, anyway? — this might be the year to get off the couch and get out of the house party.

The Soiled Dove Underground (7401 E. First Ave.) is throwing the “Ultimate Super Bowl Party” in the Lowry neighborhood on Sunday. The $35 ticket includes all-you-can eat wings, pizza, chili and other snacks, plus unlimited well drinks and Bud and Bud Light drafts. Contests and prize giveaways each quarter will keep things interesting, culminating in a four-burner-gas-grill giveaway in the fourth quarter. Oh, and the game: They’ll be showing it on two 6-foot screens.

The party starts at 3 p.m. Sunday. Buy advance tickets at .

In LoDo, Oak Tavern (1414 Market St.) is Lotus Concepts’ designated man-lair. Accordingly, the wood-lined pub will be hosting a Super Bowl gathering. The fun kicks off at 4 p.m. with Coors Light specials and a game-day menu.

Unlike many sports bars, TVs aren’t plastered to every surface at Oak Tavern. Instead, it’s easy to see the game from any seat in the house, but not be completely overwhelmed by noise. Superfans can sit at the bar and get an eyeful, and more casual viewers can avoid the madness (somewhat) if they choose.

Reservations are recommended; call 303-888-0655 to get a table.

It’s only fitting that The Living Room (1055 Broadway) is having a Super Bowl party of its own.

Normally a sedate wine bar, The Living Room will become a football fan’s dream starting at 2 p.m. Sunday.

Hit the Bloody Mary bar for $5, or get ready for kickoff with $2 Bud Light drafts. Stay strong during the game with free barbecue. You’ll need the chow if it’s a high-scoring contest: Shots will be on special after touchdowns. No reservations are required, and there’s no cover.

Now we just have to hang in there until St. Patrick’s Day.

This guy’s “Whipped”

Bring a sexy date to the party for the risque latest single from Orange peel moses, on Wednesday.

The bash, at Andrew’s (1111 Lincoln St.), marks the song’s release to Beatport, the iTunes-like site for electronic music.

The song, whose two-word title suggests what happens when the lion turns tables on its tamer, celebrates the glories of sexual devotion as described by OPM himself, a local musician and party-starter.

“(It’s) long been a derogatory phrase,” he says,”but I don’t believe there’s any shame in being at a lover’s beck and call.”

Mixes of the song run the gamut from speedy electro to lazy dub — expect to hear even more at the party, which features DJs like Kaya, Ishe, Tony K, Greg Campbell, Arete and Kaution, plus MC Deadlip from California.

The party starts at 9 p.m.; there’s no cover.
