Three of four alley killings in Denver late last year have been connected through evidence found at the scenes.
Spent shell casings, stamped “9mm Luger” and “GFL,” were found at three of the murder scenes, according to a search warrant affidavit originally obtained by KMGH-Channel 7.
Lab analysis of the casings indicate they were “fired from the same unknown type firearm,” the court document said.
The three shooting deaths happened within a month — between Nov. 18 and Dec. 13 — and within a 4-mile radius in Denver.
Kervin Andre Rogers, 25, has been charged with first-degree murder in the Nov. 19 shooting death of Cheriece Knox, 30, in the alley between the 4300 blocks of York and Josephine streets.
Police recovered matching shell casings at two other scenes:
• The body of Robert Clarke, 56, who was also known as Robert Stanley Ledbetter, was found Nov. 18 in an alley behind 3376 Blake St., about a dozen blocks northeast of Coors Field. Clarke had gunshot wounds to his head and neck, the coroner’s office said.
• The body of 22-year-old Allisen Falk-Compton was found Dec. 13 in the alley between the 5000 blocks of Fillmore and Clayton streets.
Falk-Compton “was lying on the ground in the alley with blood around the head,” said the search warrant affidavit. Two fired shell cases were found at the scene by Denver investigators.
Rogers has been charged in Knox’s death, but he has not been charged in the other two cases.
An arrest affidavit in the Knox case, which might explain what evidence links Rogers to her death, is sealed, in part, “to protect an ongoing and broader investigation,” said Lynn Kimbrough, a spokeswoman with the Denver district attorney’s office.
In the fourth alley killing, Teresa Rosemarie Harris, 45, is being held on suspicion of first-degree murder in the stabbing death of 35-year-old Charles Moore Hardy. Hardy’s body was found Dec. 13 in a trash bin in the alley between the 2200 blocks of Emerson and Clarkson streets.
