A storm focused mainly on southern Colorado will stretch just far enough north to create light but steady snowfall over Denver and surrounding areas for Super Bowl Sunday. The snow is expected to start late this morning.

Cold air moving into the state will combine with a Pacific storm system to create snow mainly for the southern three-quarters of the state.

The area between metro Denver and Boulder will be on the very northern edge of the storm and can expect modest snowfall of 2 to 4 inches for today, with another 1 to 2 inches tonight into Monday. Areas north of Colorado 52 will get very little snowfall, less than 2 inches.

Foothills areas are forecast to have a total of 4 to 8 inches of snow, with the highest amounts south of Central City. North of Gilpin County, about 2 to 4 inches is in the forecast. 9News
