Denver’s corrections director, William Lovingier, has announced he will retire effective May 31 after 32 years of working with the city’s Sheriff Department.

Lovingier said he will meet with Mayor John Hickenlooper this week to talk about the process for finding a replacement.

Lovingier, 57, said he is looking forward to spending more time with his wife of 37 years, Dixie.
