CENTENNIAL, Colo.—The girlfriend of an illegal immigrant accused in a crash that killed three people, including a boy in an ice cream shop, says someone else was with her boyfriend in the SUV blamed for the crash.
Brenda Aleman, contradicting an earlier statement to police, testified Thursday that Francis M. Hernandez confided in her that his cousin also was in the SUV and fled after the crash in 2008. She said she didn’t know who was driving.
The cousin was shot and killed in June.
Attorneys for Hernandez have argued police ignored the possibility of two men in the SUV.
Hernandez is charged with vehicular homicide on allegations that he ran a red light and was speeding when his SUV collided with a truck, sending it into the shop.
