The State Patrol continues to investigate a rollover crash that killed a preschool teacher near Brush last month.
Texting while driving may still have been involved.
“We know there was a gap of 49 seconds between the time of her last text message and the time that the first 911 call came in.” State Patrol Sgt. John Hahn said Friday night. “So we’re not certain about the timing of the crash. But we are investigating this, treating the texting as a contributing factor to the crash.”
Megan Schneider was on her way to school when her pickup went off Interstate 76 on Jan. 28. Her truck rolled more than two times and she was ejected from the vehicle.
Light snow had made road conditions slippery at the time of the accident.
An Associated Press story on Friday from the Fort Morgan Times quoted another patrol sergeant as saying texting had been ruled out because of a gao between her last text and the time of the crash.
Hundreds of people mourned Schneider at Fort Morgan High School days after the accident.
