A man critically injured in a Sept. 21, 2007, motorcycle accident in Weld County was arrested today in Craig for investigation of vehicular homicide.
The man, Tyrell Kochenower, 30, was riding a motorcycle at the intersection of Weld County Roads 74 and 29 near Eaton just after midnight.
A passenger who was riding on the back of the motorcycle, Bethany Gibson, 21, of Greeley, died at the scene.
A warrant was issued for Kochenower on Feb. 4.
Shane Scofield, spokesman for the Weld County Sheriff’s Office, said Kochenower was apprehended following a search by the sheriffs’s office, the US Marshal’s Service and the Craig Police Department.
The actual arrest was made by a Craig police officer and Kochenower was booked into the Moffat County Jail where his bond has been set at $100,000.
According to reports in The Steamboat Pilot at the time of the accident, Kochenower – known as “Tye” to his friends and family – suffered a severe brain injury, fractured skull and collapsed lung.
According to The Pilot, the community rallied around Kochenower, who has two children.
