The Colorado Christian baseball team dominated Hastings (Neb.) College in both games of a doubleheader Saturday at Runyon Field in Pueblo.
The Cougars won the first game 16-4, with Chris Guyer going 4-for-4 and driving in four runs. Trey Stastny had six strikeouts in the second game, pitching Colorado Christian to a 10-1 victory.
• Chris Matsuda had seven RBIs in two games, helping Colorado Mines sweep Augustana (S.D.) College 11-6 and 11-10 in a doubleheader in Golden.
• Colorado State-Pueblo held Mesa State to five hits in the first game of a doubleheader in Pueblo, which the Thunderwolves won 12-0. Mesa State responded in the second game as Chris Shea had eight strikeouts, pitching the Mavericks to a 4-0 victory.
• Metro State split a doubleheader with Dickinson State (N.D.) in Denver. The Roadrunners lost the opener 2-1 and won the second game 7-2.
In the first game, Ted Jamison pitched the fourth complete game of his Metro State career. But the Roadrunners were held to one run, which David Fox scored on a fielding error.
Brennan Brown and Brett Bowman each had two RBIs for the Roadrunners in the second game. Sean Walter earned the victory in relief, pitching four scoreless innings and allowing only two hits.
CSU stays winless in softball.
The Colorado State softball team lost its third consecutive game, falling to Nebraska 6-2 on the second day of the Hotel Encanto Invitational in Las Cruces, N.M.
Rebecca Penland and Jenna Krogh each had an RBI for the Rams, who fell to 0-3.
