Latvian speedskater Haralds Silovs is doing double duty — racing in the long- and short-track events. After skating in the 5,000 meters Saturday and finishing 20th, Silovs made the 12-mile trip to the short-track venue to compete in three races in the “NASCAR” version of speedskating. “It was amazing for me as an athlete to experience this,” he said. “I got really positive energy from the audience.” And a boost from short-track star Apolo Anton Ohno, who tweeted: “Great skate to Harry Silovs! Impressive. C u in a few hours. Then it’s our turn!” Silovs finished 10th in the 1,500 late Saturday.
