World champion figure skater Evan Lysacek said Saturday he is having problems with his left foot again and is not planning to do a quad jump. He fell when doing a quad at last month’s national championships in Spokane, Wash., and finished second. He didn’t try a quad in last year’s world championships when recovering from a stress fracture and finished first.

“It really did hurt when I was doing a lot of quads,” Lysacek said Saturday. “Going to the world championships last year was a really tough time, wondering if every day I was going to be able to compete and make it the next couple of weeks. I didn’t want my Olympic experience to be like that.”

Lysacek asked his doctor in Los Angeles for advice and was told not to do anything that could potentially bother it. The men’s short program in the Vancouver Games is Tuesday.
