A 60-year-old semi truck driver was seriously injured this morning when his rig drifted off Colorado 52 four miles south of Wiggins, according to Sgt. John Hahn of the Colorado State Patrol.

Hahn said the International traveled 540 feet through a field before rolling. He said the driver, Larry Campbell, of Keenesburg, was trapped in the wreckage before being freed and airlifted to a Greeley hospital.

Hahn said investigators are trying to determine why the truck drifted off the highway. However, it does not appear that the incident was medically caused, said Hahn.

The truck was carrying sunflower seeds. The seeds were dumped in the field, said Hahn.

The sergeant said Campbell has been ticketed for careless driving.
