Francisco Cruz, who was instrumental in leading Abraham Lincoln to the 2008 Class 4A boys basketball championship, said he will sign with Wyoming.
The 6-foot-4 Cruz is completing his second season at Western Nebraska Community College in Scottsbluff, where he is averaging 19.7 points.
As a junior at Abraham Lincoln, he was a part of the Lancers’ 2007 title team and then the star of a repeat winner as he averaged 23.5 points and eight rebounds. He was 4A Mr. Basketball by The Denver Post as a senior as well as All-Colorado.
“It’s a great place to go for Francisco and he deserves it,” Abraham Lincoln coach Vince Valdez said of Cruz playing for Wyoming. “He’s a hard worker.”
