A man and his 2-year-old daughter were injured Tuesday night in a single-car accident in Lakewood, police said.

The crash happened at about 8 p.m. at the intersection of West Dartmouth Place and South Garrison Street, police said.

The driver of a 2002 Pontiac Firebird, who was not identified, lost control on a sheet of ice and the car hit a tree, wrapping around it, police said. His 4-year-old daughter was buckled in a car seat in the back of the Firebird.

When police and firefighters initially arrived the girl was “unresponsive,” but she was either revived or came to on her own, said Steve Davis, a police spokesman.

The girl and her father both had to be cut out of the mangled car.

They were both taken to a local hospital. Details on their injuries were not available.

The crash is under investigation.
