FORT WORTH, Texas — Former President George W. Bush says he turned to his faith during tough times in his eight years in office.
He told more than 1,100 people at a banquet Saturday night for Fort Worth Christian School that he didn’t see how he could be president without prayer. The former president also said he doesn’t plan on staying in the public eye. He said he won’t be “out there opining” or criticizing his successor.
Bush also said he’s writing a book about his decisions in office so “you can draw your own conclusions.”
Students presented Bush with a $5,000 check from fundraising efforts to help earthquake-ravaged Haiti.
