SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Phillip and Nancy Garrido can talk by telephone in two tightly controlled, five-minute calls over the next six weeks, a judge in California ruled Friday, but they cannot visit each other in the El Dorado County jail.
The defendants in the kidnapping of Jaycee Lee Dugard can speak if Nancy Garrido decides to make such a call.
Jail officials will be allowed to monitor the calls, El Dorado Superior Court Judge Douglas Phimister ruled during a hearing six months after Dugard was found alive after 18 years of mystery.
