MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Da’Sean Butler scored 22 points in his final home game and the Mountaineers defeated the Hoyas on Monday night to clinch a double bye into the quarterfinals of the Big East Tournament.

The Mountaineers (23-6) led by as many as 27 points early in the second half and Georgetown (19-9) couldn’t catch up.

AUSTIN, Texas — Senior Damion James scored 24 points and the Longhorns (23-7), who became the first team since Alabama in 2003 to reach No. 1 and then later drop out of The Associated Press poll, overcame an 11-point deficit in the second half.

No. 16 St. John’s 77, Pittsburgh 65

PITTSBURGH — The Red Storm (24-5) shot 7-for-13 on 3-pointers.
