SAVANNAH, Ga. — President Barack Obama sat down Tuesday afternoon for a lunch at Mrs. Wilkes’ Dining Room, a popular city restaurant. In front of him was a plate piled high with fried chicken and bowls of beans, sweet potatoes, greens, and macaroni and cheese.

Turning to reporters who accompanied him on the trip, Obama said he didn’t want to hear any lectures about his cholesterol, which a doctor this week determined was too high. And above all, he said, don’t tell his wife, Michelle, about his lunch.
