KHAR, Pakistan — Officials say Pakistani security forces have killed at least 30 militants after coming under attack in a troubled tribal region in the northwest.
Two government and security officials said Thursday that one of their soldiers also died and four were wounded in the overnight gun battle in the Moh mand region near the Afghan border. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity.
The attack happened not far from the Bajur region where the military this week announced it had cleared out the one-time militant stronghold.
