A pickup truck driver is suspected of letting a pair of ladders slide off his truck onto Interstate 76 in Weld County tonight, causing a semi-truck to crash.
The driver was not injured, but the semi’s side tank hit a guard rail and spilled about 75 gallons of diesel fuel, according to the Colorado State Patrol.
The pickup truck driver collected the ladders and drove away, said Trooper David Hall.
The incident happened about 6:30 p.m. about 40 miles northeast of Denver. Witnesses described the truck as being white with yellow lettering that started with a Z on the door.
The yellow lettering on the door might have been for an electrical company. The truck also had a tool rack in the bed.
Witnesses did not get a description of the driver.
