An apartment in the 600 block of South Dayton Street burned this evening, and some residents of the three-story building were being kept from their homes as firefighters investigate the blaze.
The fire at Pine Creek Apartments was reported about 7:20 p.m., and smoke was billowing from the first-floor unit when crews arrived. The flames were limited to the single apartment, but some nearby units likely sustained smoke and water damage, said Denver Fire spokesman Alex Paez.
No one was home at the time of the fire, and the cause is still under investigation, he said.
