The La Alma Recreation Center, which Mayor John Hickenlooper slated for closure last year, will get a reprieve for two years.

The city’s Parks and Recreation Department announced Friday it will reallocate $730,000 from the city’s Capital Improvement Program to fund La Alma’s operations for the next two years. The West Side Lane Trail project, a new soft-surface trail between 15th and 19th streets on the west side of the Platte River, will be delayed. And the City Council will be asked to reappropriate $230,000 of the $600,000 for the Swansea Park Master Plan to fund La Alma.
