Larimer County sheriff’s deputies are investigating an apparent accidental shooting in the Roosevelt National Forest outside Big Elk Meadows, northwest of Lyons, the Daily Camera reports.

Dispatchers received a report of two people shot in the forest north of County Road 47 about 3:30 p.m. Saturday. The area is on the border between Boulder and Larimer counties, and deputies from both jurisdictions responded, the newspaper said.

A spokesman for the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office told the Camera that two groups were doing target shooting on national forest land, and neither was aware of the other.
