Jenny Barringer, Olympic runner and University of Colorado National Champion, was honored Sunday night at the Sportswomen of Colorado annual awards banquet. Barringer became a Hall of Famer in 2009 after being honored by the group for the third time. As Sportswoman of the Year, she joins Olympic gold medalists Amy Van Dyken and Connie Carpenter-Phinney among the state’s top female athletes. Barringer set six NCAA records during the 2009 season and seven CU records. She won two Big 12 titles and two NCAA championships.

The Women’s Wilderness Institute hosts a masquerade 6-10 p.m. March 27 at The Spot Bouldering Gym. The nonprofit offers women and teen girls the chance to gain confidence and new skills through outdoor adventures. The nonprofit plans an evening of live entertainment, music, aerial performances from Frequent Flyer Productions, a fashion show sponsored by OutdoorDIVAS, local beverage and food tastings, and a silent auction. The “My Market” exhibit at the Children’s Museum, focused on making healthy choices at the grocery store officially opens with bread-breaking ceremony tomorrow at 11 a.m., featuring a 6-foot- long challah bread. The first 150 people at the event will receive a reusable Whole Foods bag filled with healthy treats.
