The Adams County Sheriff’s Office has appointed a new undersheriff, promoting 15-year veteran Roger Engelsman to the crucial slot.
Engelsman took the post on March 1 and was officially sworn in Wednesday, the sheriff’s office announced in a media release.
Before joining the sheriff’s office, Engelsman served with the Northglenn Police Department for over 13 years as a patrolman and a detective. He rose to the rank of lieutenant with Northglenn.
Engelsman steps in for former Undersheriff Paul Siska, who retired on Feb. 28 after 33 years with the sheriff’s office.
The undersheriff assumes command of the agency in the absence of the sheriff and also supervises, trains and evaluates commanders of the sheriff’s office, among other duties.
“As Undersheriff he will have many challenges ahead of him and I am certain he will be able to handle each of them with a high-level of competency and professionalism,” Sheriff Doug Darr said in a statement. “We have worked together for some time now and he has established himself as a skilled professional and an asset to Adams County.”
