The Denver Post sports section was named one of the top 10 daily and Sunday sections in the country in judging by the Associated Press Sports Editors, it was announced Wednesday.
This is the first time The Post was honored in the top 10 for daily and Sunday sections in the same year. The Post competes in the largest division, which is circulation of more than 250,000. Newspapers were required to submit sections from two mandatory dates and any two optional dates from the 2009 calendar year.
In the writing categories, two Post reporters were named in the top 10.
Nuggets beat writer Benjamin Hochman’s coverage of was named one of the top game stories of the year in the 250,000-and-
over division. The Nuggets won after the Bulls’ final shot was waved off.
Broncos beat writer Lindsay H. Jones was named in the top 10 in feature stories for her which has a population of 25,000 but has five active NFL players.
The stories will go through another round of judging and the top five finalists for each writing category will be announced by April 15.
