It’s time for approximately 20,000 greater
sandhill cranes to wing their way to Colorado, where they famously stop to regroup at the wildlife refuges and fields near Monte Vista and Alamosa. The festival is timed to coincide with the migration peak. Shuttles take visitors to watch the birds.
