DENVER—Jim Davidson has been named president of Examiner.com, the news Web site of Clarity Digital Group.

Davidson’s appointment was announced Thursday by Examiner.com CEO Rick Blair.

Examiner.com relies on a mix of experts and amateur reporters to cover local news in 240 markets. It has 30,000 contributors and plans to have 85,000 by the end of the year.

The operation plans to unveil a new Web site this spring based on Drupal, an open-source technology.

Davidson has been working as a consultant for Examiner.com. Previously he was vice president of Web services and publishing for AOL and was CEO, lead investor and a board member for Laborfair.com.

Clarity Digital is one of Denver billionaire Phil Anschutz’s holdings.
