Boulder’s Open Space and Mountain Parks program is looking for volunteer trail guides from across the metro area to help visitors to learn more about the city’s diverse outdoors.

Volunteers assist visitors, keep an eye on open space, and provide the information about the area’s natural and cultural history, seasonal changes and management.

Applications are being taken for a training class on April 8 and the 19-year-old program usually fills up fast, said volunteer coordinator Susan Ross.

Applications are available online at .

The open-space parks use more than 1,100 volunteers annually in a wide variety of programs, including bat monitors, Xeriscape gardeners, weed control workers and more, she said.

For more information, call Ross at 720-564-2013.
