A pedestrian died Friday afternoon after being hit by a train on the northeast side of the Colorado State University campus in Fort Collins.
The accident happened about 1:20 p.m. at the intersection of Old Main Drive and South Mason Street, east of the CSU Oval.
The name of the victim, a man, won’t be released until today.
Several people witnessed the incident. Some witnesses told the Fort Collins Coloradoan that the man ran in front of the oncoming train.
“The guy just came out of nowhere,” one witness, who asked not to be identified, told the newspaper. “He just dove right in front.”
CSU is urging witnesses to contact the University Counseling Center at 970-491-6053 if they need help.
