NEDERLAND, Colo.—Prosecutors will not pursue charges against a Nederland preschool teacher who was accused of sexually assaulting a student.
The Boulder County District Attorney’s Office said Monday it couldn’t prove the allegations against 38-year-old Kristen Carol Barnett. Barnett was teaching at Over the Rainbow when she was arrested in January after a student’s mother told sheriff’s officials that her child had been touched inappropriately.
Barnett says being accused of a crime against a child was “the most terrible thing anyone can imagine.”
After her arrest, state officials closed the preschool in February but allowed it to reopen later that month.
