Big 5 Asset Management, a Denver-based alternative asset management firm, said Tuesday it has acquired a real estate securities fund managed by Lawrence Raiman, former head of Credit Suisse’s Global Real Estate Securities business.

The fund, renamed the Rhino Income Opportunity Fund, will continue to invest in preferred shares of real estate investment trusts. Big 5 founder Bo Brownstein worked with Raiman on Wall Street and was his student at Columbia University. Raiman will be a partner at Big Five and work out of its New York office.
