GREELEY, Colo.—A 43-year-old man was convicted of killing his cousin and sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Weld County jurors convicted Norberto Abundez-Prieto of first-degree murder Tuesday for the July 2008 shooting death of 34-year-old Jesus Abundez-Plige. Prosecutors say Abundez-Prieto decided to shoot his cousin after discovering he was sleeping with his wife.

Prosecutors say Abundez-Prieto talked for months about his desire to kill his cousin. But Abundez-Prieto’s defense attorney argued that he acted on impulse.

Abundez-Plige was shot in the head at his Platteville home.
