VAIL, Colo.—A Vail-area marketing group has proposed $24.6 million in projects to lure more visitors to the ski town for overnight stays year-round.

Beth Slifer of the Vail Local Marketing District Advisory Committee presented the plan Tuesday to the Vail Town Council. The Council hasn’t made a final decision.

The plan includes extra space at Dobson Arena for concerts, meetings or other events. It would add a 6,000-square-foot outdoor pavilion for gatherings like weddings, a multipurpose center at the site of the aging Vail Golf Club clubhouse, parking spaces and another soccer field.

Slifer says funding could come from bonds or new taxes, Vail Resorts Inc., and money originally collected to build a conference center.
