Fight fans will flock to Broomfield on Sunday for a tall UFC card of mixed martial arts at the revamped 1st Bank Center (formerly called the Odeum and Broomfield Event Center).
But the fighters themselves have taken a years-long path to the bouts. Endless training. Sparring. Learning. Fighting. In and out of the spotlight.
Veteran Brandon Vera will take on phenom Jon Jones in the light heavyweight main event. But three Colorado fighters will be featured on the undercard.
That trio of Centennial State octagoners — Eliot “The Fire” Marshall, Brendan “The Hybrid” Schaub and Duane “Bang” Ludwig — on Wednesday put in some late training work at the Easton Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt gym on South Broadway in Denver.
They might not stick out in a crowd. But they can fight their way out of one.
The 11-bout card starts at 7 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are available at . The bouts air live on Versus.
