More whiplash weather is in store for Colorado this week, with more than a foot of new snow expected in the Front Range foothills and up to 10 inches in Denver today into Wednesday.
An approaching system should bring snow to the northern and central mountains early today and rain to the Eastern Plains, likely turning to snow late in the day, according to the National Weather Service.
Snow is expected over wide parts of northern and northeastern Colorado tonight and Wednesday, the Weather Service said. The foothills could see more than 12 inches of new accumulation before the system moves out Wednesday.
In Denver there’s a chance of a rain and snow mix before noon today, and then snow is likely in the afternoon.
Tonight, the chance of snow kicks up to about 70 percent in the city, and up to 10 inches of new snow is possible by the storm’s end Wednesday.
Skies will be mostly cloudy over Denver on Wednesday, with a 40 percent chance of snow and a high of about 38 degrees.
But expect a rebound to sunny skies and a day-time high of about 55 degrees on Thursday, the Weather Service said.
