A 27-year-old Longmont woman has turned herself in to police in connection with a baby drowning in a bathtub.
Andromeda Ann Sosa was arrested Monday on suspicion of child abuse and neglect resulting in death, as well as possession of less than one gram of a controlled substance.
On Feb. 25, 10-month-old Jeremiah Sosa, Andromeda Sosa’s nephew, was left unattended in a bathtub and later was found dead.
The Boulder County coroner’s office said the boy died from “asphyxia due to drowning.” The coroner ruled the death an accident.
Sosa cared for the infant because his parents are both incarcerated in the Colorado Department of Corrections, said Cmdr. Tim Lewis of the Longmont Police Department.
Investigators found a “small amount of cocaine” in “Andromeda’s possessions,” Lewis said. She was not under the influence of cocaine or drugs when the incident happened. Sosa has been released from the Boulder County Jail on $50,000 bond. Kieran Nicholson, The Denver Post
