DOUGLAS COUNTY — A woman who said she is a close relative of the Colorado State Patrol trooper arrested on suspicion of DUI told 9News that the trooper has checked into an alcohol-treatment facility and that it is not his first time.
Douglas County sheriff’s deputies arrested Trooper David Dolan, 48, a 21-year veteran, on charges of DUI and prohibited use of weapons early Monday.
“He’s a good man that’s having a bad time,” said the relative, who asked that she not be identified. She said Dolan entered treatment after bonding out of jail Monday. The relative also said Dolan previously spent 2 1/2 days in a treatment facility.
The woman said Dolan suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder from the years he spent with the state patrol’s accident reconstruction team. The team investigates deadly crashes. 9News
