A man arrested in Alaska last month in connection with a 2006 homicide in Boulder County is fighting extradition.

John Angerer, 40, faces a charge of second-degree murder in the death of his girlfriend, Angela Wilds, whose body was found in South St. Vrain Canyon nearly four years ago.

He was identified as a suspect after detectives interviewed nearly 100 people in the case, then matched his DNA to several samples from items found near Wilds’ body, according to the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office.

Angerer was arrested Feb. 24 in Alaska, where he was being held on a probation violation charge. He remains at the Anchorage Corrections Complex in lieu of $1 million bail.
