Sunny skies and temperatures in upper 40s are expected for the metro region Thursday and the mid-50s on Friday, but Friday night and Saturday morning have the potential for more snow, according to the National Weather Service.
Forecasters have not predicted a specific amount, but the high for Saturday is expected to be 43 degrees, according to the forecast.
There is a 30 percent chance of precipitation Friday night and 20 percent Saturday morning, with a low overnight temperature forecast for 29 degrees.
Temperatures could reach nearly 60 degrees in Denver on Sunday, the mid 60s on Monday and potentially 70 degrees on Tuesday, according to forecasters.
The High Country has a slight chance of snow Thursday night and a good chance Friday night through Saturday.
The Eastern Plains should see rain from the Pacific weather system, according to the National Weather Service.
An avalanche warning is in effect until noon Thursday for the Front Range mountains and the Sangre de Christo Range in Southern Colorado.
Rapid heavy snowfall on top of older, slicker snow surfaces could easily cause large, destructive slides, according to the Colorado Avalanche Information Center.
The center said people who ski in backcountry should take heed of the conditions.
