The FBI today announced the arrest of the so-called “Tom Thumb Bandit.”
Denver police arrested Robert Cole, 47, on Friday, while investigating the robbery of the First Bank at 370 17th St. in Denver.
The nickname “Tom Thumb Bandit” was sparked by from one bank surveillance photo that showed the robber had a bandaged thumb.
Cole is being held in the Denver City Jail, accused of robbing six downtown Denver banks in the past year.
A statement from the FBI noted that each bank robbery is punishable by up to 20 years in prison.
