Two people are dead and two are in custody after a shooting in an Aurora apartment complex parking lot Monday night, police said.
No names were released.
Aurora Police Detective Bob Friel said witnesses heard “a number of shots fired” about 6:30 p.m. in the parking lot surrounded by buildings at Sommerset Gardens Apartments near South Blackhawk Street and East Mississippi Avenue.
Witnesses described a car, and an officer soon saw a vehicle fitting that description speed from the area.
The car stopped at East First Avenue and South Chambers Road and two people ran from it before they were chased and arrested, Friel said.
Police think a third person might have been in the car, “but that’s still pretty sketchy information at this point,” Friel said Monday night.
The suspects were being questioned, so Friel could not speculate on the cause of the shooting.
Anyone with information about the shooting can call Aurora police at 303-739-6000.
