A man on a bicycle was hit by an RTD bus this morning in downtown Denver and he was taken by ambulance to a local hospital.

The accident happened around 8:05 a.m. at the corner of Broadway and Cheyenne Place just outside The Denver Post building. The man was taken to Denver Health Medical Center where he is being treated for a “closed head injury,” said Sonny Jackson, a Denver Police Department spokesman.

Further details on the unidentified man’s condition were not available.

“The bus had a green light and he (the bicyclist) went against a red light,” Jackson said.

RTD spokeswoman Daria Serna said the bicyclist “veered into the bus lane and hit the bus.”

Denver police are investigating the accident.
