A child killed in a highway crash has been identified and a truck driver involved in the fatal wreck has been arrested.
Aileen J. Rodriguez, a 2-year-old from Rock Island, Ill., died Tuesday when the mini van she was sitting in on the shoulder of Interstate 76 near E-470 was hit from behind by a rental truck.
The girl was “secured in a child-safety seat” at the time of the crash, the Brighton Police Department said in a media release.
The driver of the truck, James Diggs, 55, of Ann Arbor, Mich., was arrested after being released Wednesday from a local hospital, police said.
Diggs was booked in the Adams County Jail on suspicion of careless driving causing death and careless driving causing injury.
