DENVER—Most city and county of Denver offices will close Friday for the first of five planned furlough days this year as the city deals with plunging revenues.

Each furlough day saves the city about $1 million.

The next furlough days are May 28, Sept. 3, Oct. 15 and Nov. 26.

The furlough days will close the Denver Public Library, city recreation centers and the mayor’s office, but places like Denver International Airport that operate around the clock will remain open. Police and firefighters also will still be working.
