A federal judge has ordered a mental competency evaluation for a Spokane, Wash., man accused of threatening an abortion doctor in Boulder.
Donald Hertz, 70, appeared ready to plead guilty Monday to related charges before raising objections to a proposed plea deal, the second time he’s questioned the arrangement.
Hertz is accused of calling Dr. Warren Hern’s Boulder clinic on June 23 and threatening to kill Hern’s family.
