Colorado State junior strongside linebacker Mychal Sisson is finished with spring practice.

Sisson, who participated in Tuesday’s session, was expected to undergo previously planned minor shoulder surgery today.

The second-team All-Mountain West selection who led the team in tackles his first two seasons, could have had the surgery before spring ball. but coaches wanted him on the field briefly to work on his timing with the other linebackers.

Davis Burl, who has been enjoying an outstanding spring, is the top candidate to replace Sisson. Veteran Ricky Brewer could flip over to the strong side. Third-year sophomore Andy Clements of Chatfield High is also getting some extra work.

On the offensive side, junior T.J. Borcky appears back at receiver fulltime. He opened the spring at quarterback after playing most of last year at receiver.

Running back Chris Nwoke, a redshirt freshman from ThunderRidge, had a breakout performance Tuesday with a 70-yard run in a limited scrimmage session. With a crowd of running back, Lou Greenwood has move to receiver.

Also, redshirt freshman quarterback Nico Ranieri, who was unhappy with his effort Saturday, worked mostly with the first unit Tuesday.
