KEARNEY, Neb.—Kearney is preparing a welcome-home ceremony for about 140 Nebraska National Guard soldiers who have spent the past several months in Iraq.

The soldiers are members of the 1195th Transportation Company, which was called up for active duty last May. The 1195th is based in Kearney, with detachments in Lexington and McCook.

The soldiers first trained statewide, then they were sent to Camp Victory near Baghdad for their operations.

The Guard says the soldiers now are in Fort Carson, Colo., being processed for demobilization before traveling to Kearney.

It was the second trip to Iraq for several members of the unit, which until being reorganized and renamed in 2005 was part of the 735th Transportation Company.
