A 16-year-old student at Boulder’s Arapahoe Ridge High School, 6600 Arapahoe Road, was arrested this morning for allegedly threatening to kill minority students at the school on Friday.
The threat was written on a table in the school cafeteria, Boulder County Sheriff’s Commander Rick Brough said.
Brough said the general tenor of the threat was, “I’m killing all Mexicans on Friday.”
Brough said the case was investigated by the Boulder Valley School District and the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office.
The student, whose name was not released because he is a juvenile, is being charged with one count of ethnic intimidation, a class one misdemeanor.
Brough said investigators were able to identify the student because the school resource officer, who is a sheriff’s deputy, remembered the suspect sitting at the table prior to the threat being reported.
Faculty members also received a tip that the same student was responsible for the threat.
Brough said the student was arrested without incident and the student was interviewed.
The police commander said he could not go into what the student said during the interview or how he planned to kill his targets. Howard Pankratz: 303-954-1939 or hpankratz@denverpost.com
