Aaron Cook prides himself on being a good athlete. So on a night when pitching was a grind, he delivered on the basepaths. Cook raced from second on Dexter Fowler’s fourth-inning single and made a good read as the Mets’ Mike Jacobs tried to erase Fowler advancing to second, scoring easily.

With the Rockies admitting Wednesday that Esmil Rogers’ future is as a starter, it shouldn’t be long before Triple-A reliever Joe Beimel rejoins the bullpen, possibly this weekend in Atlanta. “I am definitely ready. . . . I don’t think I have much else to prove.”
