The University of Wyoming gave two-year contract extensions to two coaches — Mark Branch (wrestling) and Tom Johnson (swimming).

Johnson’s contract now runs through March 2012 and Branch’s through March 2013. Wyoming athletic director Tom Burman said both coaches have done an excellent job of building winning programs.

UNC inks California golfer.

The University of Northern Colorado signed Jake Hutton of Long Beach (Calif.) Wilson High School to play golf for the Bears. Hutton was named all-conference in 2007 and 2009.

• Trevor Ritchie of Portland (Ore.) Wilson High School signed a letter of intent to play basketball at Colorado Mines. Ritchie, a 6-foot-4 combo guard, was named the player of the year in his conference this past season and second-team all-state.

Orediggers outhit Mountain Lions.

First baseman Elliott Riege went 4-for-4 with two home runs and four RBIs to lead Colorado Mines (7-22) to an 11-5 win over Colorado Christian (12-28) at Darden Field in Golden.

Mines scored in each of the first five innings.
